Research and planning blog tasks

  1) State the song you have chosen for your preliminary exercise. Sabrina Carpenter - Espresso 2) Choose at least three music videos similar to your concept and watch a clip or more from each. Make bullet-point notes on everything you watch, commenting on camerawork, editing and mise-en-scene. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72kUZ1LaI7U&t=15s  - close up shots of coffee being made  - montages of café scenery - close up shots of audience in café 3) Write a short music video treatment for your extract (this is basically a script for your TikTok music video). You can find an example of a treatment here . If you are making your real coursework then feel free to use the treatment from your summer project. The TikTok begins with Lila Monroe sitting alone in a café, looking bored while the opening of Espresso plays. The camera starts with a close-up of her face before quickly cutting to a wider shot when the beat drops. Lila then starts performing a short section of chor...

Coursework: Ignite presentation learner response

  1) Type up your feedback in full including the ratings out of five for each of the categories.  1 - 2/5     2 - 2/5    3 - 3/5    4 - 2/5     5 - 3/5     6 - 2/5 2) Use this feedback, comments from peers and your own reflection on your presentation to self-assess and write your own detailed WWW and EBI for your coursework concept and presentation as a whole. WWW: I had a good soft drink idea and concept. My slides and presentation visuals were neat and tidy. I talked about a theory that it links too.  EBI: Don't read from the board. Talk about more theories. Look at audience when presenting.  3) Write a paragraph discussing how your presentation will lead into your actual coursework production. Do you need to update your statement of intent? Does your concept offer enough clarity? Is it appropriate for the audience specified in the brief? Is it achievable to film with the resources you have available? Can yo...

Coursework: Summer Project 2026

  1) Research: TikTok videos TikTok Video 1 – Narrative: Sabrina Carpenter – “Please Please Please”   The TikTok trend surrounding Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please” often uses a clear beginning , middle and ending . Many creators establish a relationship or situation at the start before introducing a problem or unexpected event, usually leading to a humorous ending. This can be linked to Todorov’s narrative theory , as the video begins with an equilibrium , followed by a disruption and then a resolution . Because TikToks are short, the narrative needs to be communicated quickly through captions, facial expressions , gestures and the setting . This keeps the audience interested because they immediately want to understand what is happening and find out how the situation will end. The familiar song also helps audiences understand the tone of the video. I could use this in my own production by creating a simple narrative that introduces a character and conflict quickly...
